A Gentle Start to the New Year: Physical Activities and Individual Preferred Style

January is often marked by New Year’s resolutions, and many of us set the goal to engage in more sports. However, a too rapid and intense start can lead to frustration and waning motivation. Instead, it is advisable to consider your own preferred style and approach sports with care.

First and foremost, it is important to recognize your individual preferred style. Are you an analytical, organizational, emotional, or self-challenging type? When you act in accordance with your natural, preferred style, even engaging in physical activity, especially at the beginning, feels pleasant.

Secondly, start gently. Do not set overly ambitious goals right from the start. Small steps are often more sustainable and motivating. For example, you could decide to walk for 20 minutes every day or participate in a fitness class once a week. This way, you avoid overloading yourself and keep physical activity as a positive part of your daily routine.

Thirdly, listen to your body and adapt to your own pace. If you find that the sport is initially too strenuous, slow down or switch to a gentler form of exercise. Be kind to yourself and understand that everyone progresses at different speeds. The most important thing is to find joy in the process and enjoy the sport.

Don’t forget to set achievable goals and celebrate small successes. Sport should be a joy, not a burden. By considering your preferred style and starting gently, you lay the foundation for long-term physical activity that supports both your physical and mental health.

January is a new opportunity, so step into the world of sports in your own way and make it a source of joy and energy for the year 2024!
